How to get the marathon armor in Destiny 2

It's time to celebrate as Destiny 30's 2th anniversary event commemorates Bungie's past successes with a slew of new loot that we Guardians can get our hands on. Enter the Marathon set, armor sets for each class inspired by Bungie's classic Doom-style FPS, Marathon. While it can be exciting, expect to do some work in Dares of Eternity's new offensive activity to earn these armor sets.

Dare into eternity

The main path to unlocking marathon-inspired armor sets is to spend time and complete the new Dares of Eternity activity. The activity ties in hand with the new Treasure of Xur destination, which is your main source of loot during the 30th anniversary event. Inside the Treasury, you may notice statues surrounding the room representing the three classes, with several chests in front of them.

These chests are where you get the Marathon armor, marked by the glowing armor pieces above the chests showing which piece of the set you will get. However, these chests are not that cheap to open and will require several completions of the Dares of Eternity activity. Here are the requirements for all armor pieces:

  • Long Gloves: Strange Favor Rank 4 and Treasure Keys 3
  • Helmet: Strange Favor Rank 4 and Treasure Keys 3
  • Chest: Strange Favor Rank 7 and Treasure Keys 5
  • Legs: Strange Favor Rank 10 and Treasure Keys 5
  • Class object: Strange Favor Rank 13 and Treasure Keys 7
